Bobby Brennan founded Kamado Joe in 2008 with a focus on innovating the Kamado style cooker. As the CEO, he led the company through its sale to Masterbuilt in 2018. The spirit of innovation that Bobby Brennan made synonymous with the brand is still alive at Kamado Joe, as they recently released the first phone controlled kamado grill. Bobby Brennan continues to have an impact, as an operating partner.

The Kamado Grill history………
The Kamado Grill was invented in China, spread to Korea, and eventually made its way to Japan. It is now found in the US as a Kamado-style cooker, or BBQ grill. The original Southern Japanese Mushikamado was used for steaming rice on ceremonial occasions. After the Second World War, the Americans discovered the Japanese “Mushikamado”. Kamado is the Japanese word for “stove” or “cooking range”, and it literally means ‘a place for the cauldron’, or in South African terms, the “potjie”. In modern times, Kamado is a general term for any type of ceramic grill.
The ceramic housing of the Kamado Joe has excellent heat retention properties, which means that maximum temperatures of up to 400 °C can be reached. In addition, the air supply, and the temperature in a Kamado Joe can be accurately regulated, so that the Kamado Grill functions like a wood oven for food preparation. One of the claims for its ceramic construction is it does not affect the food’s flavour (no metallic taste). For fuel, using large chunks of charcoal is best. Charcoal leaves very little ash, and it can be produced in an Eco-friendly, and sustainable manner.
